How does the weather data get to the web site

We monitor the weather using an electronic, automatic weather station, the Oregon

Scientific WRM968N. The data  from this is processed by a software package

called weather display and weather live which update the web site.

The WRM968N  has sensors for

pressure, wind speed temperature

/humidity and rainfall.

The anemometer is mounted on an a heavy
duty mast mount using an aluminium pole
about 1 meter above the roof to try
avoid the turbulence from surrounding
housesand obstacles. The solar power
cell and transmitter for the temperature
and humidity sensor are visible in this
shot too. The actual sensor is housed
within a stevenson screen not visible
in this shot

Also mounted with the anemometer
is its solar power cell and
transmitter. The anemometer can
pickup a significant static charge
which can affect its performance.
The thick cable attached into the
mounting pole is an earth lead
running down to an earthing rod.
Its useful should alightning
strike occur !

The rain gauge is attached to a specially
weather proofed wooden platform. This in
turn is attached to a fence post so that
the top of the rain gauge is just clear
of the top of the fence. This allows
rain from any direction to reach the
sensor and is sited away from any
potential rain 'shadows'. The Oregon rain
gauge only senses to the nearest 1.0mm
therefore any light rain less than this
will not be recorded.
